Back to reality

It’s been 3 weeks since our holidays and my transference to Pitesti is almost complete.
Some things have changed while I was gone, the weather ‘got much colder’, my desk ‘got relocated’ and my assistant ‘got replaced’…

Some things stayed the same, the dogs ‘ are still on site and everywhere else for that matter’ my workload’ I am not going there’ and the loneliness…although the freshly married Mrs Van is doing a superb job visiting whenever she can!

So with what does one fills his time you ask?
Well the answer is observing other people, in my case mostly Romanians, and mesmerize.
On Friday night, young and less young males gather in the local electronic store to wander around and look, compare and choose the gadgets of their dreams. Few purchases are made, even down payment plans starting from as little as 2 euros a month aren’t enough when average salaries are a mere 250 Euro per month! The scene took me back to my teen ages, where I often went out to get the last brochures of personal hi-fi and other electronics so I could dream of them for months while saving up the money… the pursuit often out pleasured the ownership that followed… if only they knew…

“For the eye that sees clearly, everything is a mirror; for a sincere and mindful observer, everything is profound”
